We want you to work within the Allied Health team at Darwin Private Hospital. Do you want to provide clinical and administrative assistance and support to Allied Health Professionals to ensure the delivery of a high quality rehabilitation service? This role is a 6 month contract, one day per week, (Wednesday) for 7.6 hours and would ideally suit a student completing a Health Degree.
As an Allied Health Assistant your responsibilities will include:
- Support members of the Allied Health team to provide a high standard of clinical care to patients/families
- Work under the direction and supervision of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists to help clients achieve their rehabilitation goals
Darwin Private Hospital is the only provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licenced 122 bed hospital providing a broad range of multiday and day surgery including, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Desired Criteria:
- Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance
- Current Student of a Health Degree
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, manage time effectively and complete activities
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy roles
- Experience working with or providing care to frail/aged/disabled people in a health care setting or a basic understanding of exercise programs
