Are you a Allied Health Assistant looking to make a difference in Southern Adelaide's local community?
The Allied Health Assistant operates under general direction and with limited supervision of the professional Allied Health (AH) staff in an interdisciplinary team. The incumbent is responsible to the AH professionals and is accountable to the AHP4 GEM Allied Health Service Manager for the delivery of high quality services. The GEM Unit has a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The unit aims to provide support and intervention to achieve the highest level of function and independence possible to promote quality of life and improve options for care.
About the Role:
As the Allied Health Assistant, your duties will include:
- Learning how to use and apply technologies in practice with older people including those with dementia
- Training and supporting other ward staff to use the technologies with patients as an intervention to manage challenging behaviours
- Administration of various patient screens including physical screens, cognition screens and research eligibility screens
- Undertaking therapy programs for individuals or groups under general direction of Allied Health staff
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent
- Experience working in health care, preferably with in an acute or sub-acute setting with older people including those with dementia.
- Ability to work under general direction and direct or remote supervision from Allied Health Professionals
- Initiative to solve problems and seek solutions within boundaries of organisational policy and procedures
