Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Underground Mine Manager to alternate the lead of our Underground Department at the Porgera Mine operations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Underground Mining Manager will play a critical role in designing and managing strategies and systems to ensure optimum underground performance and gold recovery.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in Underground Mining operations, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of driving results in large scale complex mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage systems to enable the achievement of the Life of Mine Plan.
- Managing production on site by optimising plans, methods, equipment, schedules and expenditure.
- Ensure ongoing effective people management of the crew by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development for employees through training and skills development.
- Develop the Budget and 13-week Plan for underground mining for approval by the Underground Manager.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve safe and healthy working conditions, environmental targets, and legal compliance.
- Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in NPL’s mining activities, consistent with our Community Relations Policies.
Requirements:
- Significant experience as an Underground Manager, with a strong track record of managing budgets, forecasts and production reporting.
- Statutory ticket holder for Underground Mine.
- A proven leader in a large scale mine with the ability to mentor and coach national leaders effectively.
- Expat experience in a developing country is beneficial but not essential.
- Hands-on approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to work at various levels to resolve issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and move towards a culture of partnership and accountability.
