Job description

We are searching for a Business Development Manager - Underground Coal to join our Mackay-based team on a permanent fulltime basis.

Reporting to our Branch Manager, this role will be responsible for implementing the expanded mining products Business Development strategy and overseeing commercial negotiations within the underground mining sector. The goal is to achieve profitable aftermarket sales targets, including Underground Coal field service, workshop service offerings, capital parts sales, and product support. The successful candidate will be in integral in fostering measurable and collaborative customer business partnerships.

The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Accountable for overseeing underground aftermarket sales and delivery of overhauled assets according to customer specifications, managing the entire process from tender submission to assembly, commissioning and payment.
  • Ensure sales team members have clear, current and measurable goals and objectives.
  • Implement aftermarket sales management procedures to ensure the creation of high-quality customer proposals, timely fulfillment of supply contract obligations, and adherence to internal sales protocols.
  • Attain specified business objectives (including Payment Terms, Gross Margin, Sales Revenue, Issue Management, and Customer Satisfaction) within the assigned area, meeting budgetary targets.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team to strengthen customer relations and improve the delivery of business solutions.
  • Manage and cultivate key strategic partnerships, utilising resources from Cat and oneHD to support customer initiatives and resolve issues effectively.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, internal and external factors influencing their business, and craft effective customer management plans and deal strategies accordingly.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a management customer support role within the underground mining, mining services or heavy earthmoving industries
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial customer relationships
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the sales and marketing/commercial areas
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce or Engineering will be advantageous
