The Barkly Region covers more than 320,000 km2 stretching from the old Telegraph Station at Barrow Creek in the south to the historical droving township of Newcastle Waters in the north. Located approximately 1000km south of Darwin and 500km north of Alice Springs. Tennant Creek has a population of 3,252 and is the largest town in the region.

The estimated population of the Barkly Regional Council is 6,316 spread over 7 communities (2 regional towns and 5 remote communities). Employing an average of 200 staff, of whom 63% are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, we are committed to delivering services for residents of the region.
About the Role:
The position of Ampilatwatja Team Leader – Community Care is responsible for the provision of community-based Aged Care and Disability Support Services in remote settings.
You will oversee a team of Community Care Officers who provide direct support to vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals and families in the community.
The Essentials:
- Territory qualifications or equivalent experience in aged or disability programs.
- Proven leadership and motivation skills with the ability to work with aged, disability, and community groups.
- Hold a current driver’s licence.
- Have completed 4WD training or have a willingness to undertake training.
- Hold a current Ochre Card and National Police Criminal History Check.
The Finer Details:
- Salary of $80,057.24 per annum ($1,539.56 gross per week).
- Remote Communities Zone Allowance of $2.51 per ordinary hour worked.
- 11% Superannuation.
- Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% leave loading.

- Relocation Assistance of up to $5,000.
- Where eligible Council will provide the successful applicant with subsidised housing in Ampilatwatja at $50 per week.
