The Opportunity
As Animal Ethics Officer you will work closely with the Manager, Animal Research Governance and Welfare, the Chair of the Animal Ethics Committee, the Animal Welfare Officer, researchers and other professionals at Telethon Kids to progress high quality child health research in an ethically responsible manner.
This role provides high level governance support and advice to the AEC and the Institute research community ensuring requirements of the Australian Code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes are met.
By collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will coordinate Committee meetings and associated documentation and processes, ensure that submissions for Animal Ethics approvals are high quality and compliant with all requirements, prepare and coordinate regulatory reporting and external reviews, maintain project records and provide expert advice to researchers regarding the preparation of submissions and compliance obligations.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual, with experience in the following:
  • Experience providing compliance and / or quality management services in highly regulated environment including ability to understand & provide advice on compliance with legislation, regulations and/or codes.
  • Experience providing effective committee secretariat functions.
  • Professional experience in research, academic, medical, scientific or technical environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, prioritisation, time-management and organisation skills to meet multiple deadlines.
  • High-level written and report writing skills.
  • Proven communication & interpersonal skills (must be able to liaise, report & coordinate across various organisational levels).
