Local Council looking to bring on an Animal Enforcement Officer -
Your new company
Our client is a local council who is driven to create a positive change for the citizens within its district. They are involved in a range of local schemes to improve lifestyle quality and are looking to add an Animal Management Officer to join their City Animal Incident and Management team.
Your new role
Your new role as an Animal Management Officer will be to assist the Community Services branch and assist the local council with Animal Management. This includes; conducting animal welfare inspections, advising and educating on compliance regarding legislation, keeping records of collected evidence, impounding wandering animals in accordance to council policies and maintaining up to date information in regards to legislation and compliance. You will positively affect your community by promoting responsible pet ownership, providing education on local animal compliance requirements, mentoring incoming staff, and contributing to improving the team.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need a thorough knowledge of animal husbandry, kennel operations, and animal disease transmission and prevention. You'll also have experience in conducting inspections and producing outcomes in line with legislation, local law, and council policies with an ability to communicate effectively through written reports. Competent computer skills, with the ability to pick up relevant software such as Pathways and GIS.
Soft skills needed to excel in the role include; conflict resolution abilities, oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate tactfully in sensitive situations and attention to detail while working on routine cases.
You'll be required to undergo physical assessment, possess a current 'C' class driver license and be willing to obtain an MR license within the first 12 months. You may be required to work flexible hours, which can include weekends or being rostered for after hours duties. You require sufficient vaccination records, in line with Council policies and due to the nature of work, should not suffer allergies or chemical sensitivities
