Working within National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program, you will be involved in delivering engagement project plans in consultation with individual officers and the manager. Your communication and planning skills and experience in community and stakeholder engagement will be highly valued in this role
Client Details
In 2023-24 the Communication and Engagement team will accelerate the mobilisation of community and industry members to assist fire ant eradication and suppression. The four key objectives will be:
- Encourage community fire ant surveillance
- Build support among stakeholders for the program's treatment and surveillance work
- Reduce the likelihood of stakeholders spreading fire ants
- Encourage community and industry members to contribute to fire ant suppression in non-eradication areas
Description
- Plan and undertake activities supporting community and stakeholder engagement strategies, including coordinating project activities within the stakeholder engagement plan through independent completion of own task and oversight of project resources/team.
- Build, maintain and improve relationships and networks both internally and externally to enable implementation of engagement strategies and effective events that engage the target audience. This may include managing potential conflicts through clear communication.
- Build and maintain knowledge of stakeholder interests and social responses to biosecurity concerns. Apply engagement techniques to communicate effectively with the target audience using audience analytics to support stakeholder mapping.

- Under direction, negotiate and communicate with designated stakeholder groups on behalf of the program area/agency within department guidelines.
- Establish and promote events on behalf of the organisation in conjunction with key projects and business needs.
Profile
- Highly organised and reliable
- Proactive and driven with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide high-level insights and quality advice
- High level written communication skills and able to collate information in a way that is suitable to be presented to senior executives
- High level of competency in MS programs (Word, Excel and Power Point)
- Experience working within the public sector is highly desirable
