Business Officer (AO6) to work within the Queensland Government, based in Cairns. This is a 3-month temporary contract, Monday – Friday with the possibility of extension.
Your new role
As the Business Officer, you will ensure effective management, administration, and coordination of various programs of work undertaken by the department. You will provide high level support to the Asset Management team and ensure that comprehensive primary health care is readily available to members of the public through -
Coordinate the establishment and management of appropriate systems, procedures, reports, audits and controls to maintain the quality, accuracy and security of processes and functions within the business unit.
Develop, implement and ensure ongoing compliance of water and mould risk management policies, plans and guidelines.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities that improve business operations and contribute to the enhancement of product and service delivery.
Liaise, consult and maintain effective relationships with team members, and internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Provide high level advice and implement where required, on matters including establishment and staff reporting, variations, and maintaining appropriate records to ensure compliance with departmental establishment management policy, delegations and approved organisational structures.
Prepare, coordinate, and deliver complex written communication on a wide range of subjects, including confidential and sensitive matters.
Provide business and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on business plans, milestones, and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved business plans.
Update and collate documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies, and practices, ensuring the business complies with relevant legislation and frameworks.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate you will possess highly developed research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to initiate appropriate operational responses and implement corrective or preventative solutions to issues affecting organisational objectives. You will have demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, consultation, written and oral skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff at all levels of government. The ability to determine priorities, coordinate resources, monitor and report progress to ensure deadlines and defined quality criteria are met is crucial. The candidate should be able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, the practices, policies and procedures used in the Asset Management and Contracts and Procurement units is necessary.
Experience in high level administrative support, including use of Microsoft Office Suite and records management software is required. With the ability to use organisational, research and analytical techniques to develop business case options and make recommendations to senior management. Experience or knowledge of the S4/HANA financial system and myHR is highly desirable.
