Applications Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Applications Engineer in VIC. Your main responsibility in this role will be to lead safe design of projects involving Mast Climbing Work Platforms, Suspended Access, and other vertical access solutions. Collaborating closely with the MCWP Sales Manager, you'll build out custom access solutions whilst ensuring meticulous safety standards and foster team collaboration. Although your focus will be on MCWPs and suspended access, you'll also lend your expertise to other engineering tasks as required, often working with the Construction/Rental/Alimak Hoist team. You're the key to safe and successful project execution, blending meticulous design, planning, and teamwork.

This role will report directly to the APAC MCWP Sales Manager.

Key Tasks:

• Provide engineering drawings for customers and our workshops which may include full general arrangement drawings, layouts, fabrication drawings etc
• Provide load calculations to sales, customers, operations as requested
• Conduct force/stress analysis on custom componentry to ensure we are designing solutions within safe limits
• Liaise with Sales, Engineering, Operations to supply drawings as per customer requirements
• Timely response to all customer enquiries
• Ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service
• Provide regular update reports to Division Manager and Operations Managers on the progress of Applications Engineering schedule, any bottlenecks or concerns etc
• Contribute to short and long-term organisational planning/strategy
• Ensure quality of work - this is a very important task as it is about safety and customers' perception of our quality – demonstrate the value of using Alimak Group
• Develop expert level knowledge of the new larger construction product portfolio, IE Alimak hoists, light range platforms (TPL), heavy platforms (Vectio), MCWP including Scanclimber and other various vertical access products.
• Be actively involved with the Operations team to take feedback on custom tie designs, what steel to use, manufacturing methods etc in order to improve the speed at which we can manufacture custom componentry
• Continue to develop and grow the laser cutting library and coaching the teams to use it more often
• Assist the Operations Teams with non-Applications Engineering related items which may include drafting, preparing project documentation, site visits etc

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Civil or Mechanical
• Experience in Construction Industry Engineering or similar
• Registered Engineer – Consumer Affairs Victoria 
• Registered Engineer – Engineers Australia
• RPEQ certified – not essential to apply - desirable, however required to obtain once employed
• Current Driver’s License 
• Rights to work in Australia
