Job description

Ballarat Grammar is one of regional Australia’s leading co-educational schools with a proud history dating back to 1877 and a flourishing community of over 1,750 students from 6 months to Year 12, including around 250 boarders.


  • To commence Term 3, 2024, or earlier by negotiation
  • Full-time, ongoing position (applicants seeking part-time are also encouraged to apply)

The exciting role will lead the development of the Applied Learning program that offers alternative pathways for students at Ballarat Grammar School. The Applied Learning Co-ordinator will oversee the VCE Vocational Major and VET programs at Years 11 and 12, the Applied Learning program at Year 10 and the Horizons Program which offers flexible secondary schooling options for suitable students. The Applied Learning Coordinator will lead the development of curricular programs that enhance student engagement by developing community networks for the purpose of community-based projects.

This Position of Responsibility will be combined with a teaching load, and will be responsible for empowering students with:

  • Academic confidence and a passion for learning,
  • An understanding of the obligations of community, both local and international,
  • Social competence, the capacity for leadership and genuine compassion for others,
  • A desire for involvement in the arts, sports and co-curricular activities,
  • Good physical and emotional health, and
  • An understanding of, and learning from, Christian faith and Christian spirituality.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Ability to demonstrate and authentically promote Ballarat Grammar’s values. 
  • Demonstrated educational teaching experience in the area of VCE Vocational Major.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of curriculum development.
  • Experience developing innovative engagement strategies for students, families and communities to strengthen the Applied Learning model.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to display compassion.
  • A proven ability to work effectively, constructively and collaboratively within a team.
  • Be committed to the exploration of critical thinking and inquiry through the pursuit of excellence and understanding.
