Round Bird Can't Fly is an iconic, long standing café situated at the gateway to the beautiful Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges. We are well renowned both locally and afar for the high quality food and service that we provide. Our small, esteemed venue has been featured in the Age, the Herald Sun, Qantas epiqure, Yarra Ranges Lifestyle magazine, and Delicious magazine to name a few.
Our café makes everything in house, and our small but skilled team in the kitchen are looking for one more person to help them continue producing high quality meals.
As a chef in our kitchen you will be responsible for preparation of our high-quality food as per recipes prepared by our head chef. Your role contributes to the timely fulfilment of our production targets, while strictly adhering to high Food Safety.
A few must haves for this role include:
- Have a passion for serving meals are a high standard
- Efficient team player that shows respect to co-workers and managers
- Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to be resourceful.
About the role
Reporting to our Head chef, you will be responsible for food preparation and plate up.
Five day work week, 8 hour shift, 9am - 5pm. Apprentices who apply woud work four days with one tafe day paid by us.
- The general responsibilities of the role include:
- Help in the preparation food
- Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
- Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
- Foster sound relationships with front of house staff and kitchen staff
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers
- Report all equipment breakdowns or failures to management
- Any other duties as required by the Head Chef
