Apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist
State Asphalts NSW Pty Ltd (SANSW) is part of the Kypreos Group which has operated within the Civil Construction industry for over 50 years and is still owned and operated by the founding family members. SANSW is a major supplier of quality manufactured asphalt with 4 production plants across NSW.
Role:
To help support operational growth SANSW are looking to recruit a motivated Apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist to join our Asphalt Production Maintenance team reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager. The role will be based in our Prestons Asphalt Production plant and will work across our other production plants as needed.
Role:
- Permanent role.
- Standard workdays Monday – Friday with weekend or night work as necessary to work on emergency repairs where required.
- The ideal candidate will currently be undertaking a formal apprenticeship or at/near completion of their apprenticeship.
- We will offer paid employment whilst working towards your trade qualification through TAFE.
- Flexibility to attend TAFE classes around your role.
The will involve assisting in the following tasks:
- Installation, service and maintenance on asphalt production plants and associated machinery including:
- Conduct daily pre-operational and safety checks on asphalt production plant equipment.
- Undertake maintenance as part of planned preventative maintenance programs and managing unplanned breakdowns.
- Fault identification and rectification.
- Clean and lubricate critical components of asphalt and other associated plant equipment.
- General fabrication and machine work.
- Aid in design of engineering tools and parts.
- Analysing and reporting daily issues with appropriate follow-up action and managing maintenance logs.
- General cleaning of asphalt production plant site.
Role Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a related trade apprenticeship such as a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) (MEM30219) or other relevant trade.
- Ideally have a mechanical aptitude with prior experience working in an asphalt plant or manufacturing plant setting and some experience in basic welding/fabrication, electrical, millwrighting and loader operation would be desirable but not necessary.
- Current NSW Driver License (minimum C).
- General Construction Induction Card – White Card.
- Be expected to successfully pass a Pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol test.
- The ideal candidate will be reliable, fit, energetic, and able to work in a team environment.
- Possess strong planning, time management and communications skills.
- Possess a strong commitment to safety and willingness to learn.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills under pressure situations.
