The Opportunity -
Novaskill in partnership with Kyogle Council, has a first-year apprenticeship position available. This position is suited to someone eager to pursue a career in the Mechanical Industry and support their local government. This is an excellent opportunity to start at an entry level and learn all aspects of repair and maintenance of plant, machinery, and other assets within the Kyogle Council.

The Role -
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of vehicle, plant, machinery, and other council assets.
- Develop skills and knowledge relating to the Mechanical Industry.
- Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Work collaboratively with a team to ensure all work health & safety practices are adhered to.
- Working in an all-inclusive culture where all people are valued, and differences respected.
- Working a 9 – day fortnight
- Position is based at the Kyogle Council depot.
- Attend TAFE NSW to complete the formal learning portion of the apprenticeship.
- Gain a nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technology over a 48-month term.
Selection Criteria -
- Ability to work and interact effectively as a team member.
- Has a construction industry White Card, or the ability to obtain.
- A current drivers’ licence desirable, with the capability to operate a manual transmission.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills both oral and written.
- Year 10 Higher School Certificate or equivalent, as a minimum.
- Physically fit and healthy for performing manual labour work.
- A commitment to the principles and practices of work health and safety.
- Behaviour that positively demonstrates values of respect, inclusivity, and safety.
- Presents a positive image of the council to the public.
