What is your new role about?
Reporting to the Works Delivery Manager, as a Distribution Overhead Apprentice (Broome and Carnarvon) or a Distribution Underground Apprentice (Karratha), you will undertake a four-year apprenticeship that provides competencies for the installation and maintenance of overhead power line structures or underground assets and associated hardware.
These are full-time permanent positions.
It includes the installation and maintenance of:
- Electrical equipment.
- Conductors and cables.
- Customer services.
- Inspection of overhead poles/structures and electrical apparatus (Overhead).
- Inspection of underground assets and electrical apparatus (Underground).
- The use of support plant and equipment.
The course also includes electrical theory competencies to provide underpinning knowledge for power systems distribution overhead and underground work.
You will have;
- A background of living within a regional community, preferably our regional service regions.
- Have the right to work in Australia.
- Currently hold a C Class licence (minimum of red 'P' plates) or the ability to gain a C Class licence.
- Be able to travel to the relevant location for training (all travel and accommodation will be arranged by Horizon Power).
- Experience in an Electrical Pre-Apprenticeships or trade pathway would be highly regarded.
- Have the courage to ask questions and display an openness to learning new things.
- Have the ability to learn, understand and follow all processes and procedures relevant to your apprenticeship and working at Horizon Power.
- Be committed to your own personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
