A vacancy exists as an APS 4Learning Assurance Officer within the Defence Registered Training Organisation (DRTO) in the Assurance & Data Quality team. A Learning Assurance Officer in the DRTO is responsible for:Undertaking pre-delivery assurance of training assessment materials for awarding a Vocational Education & Training (VET) Unit of Competency or QualificationMonitoring the quality of training data held in the HR systemUndertaking due diligence compliance checks on training data held in the HR systemReporting non-compliance to the Assurance Manager.The DRTO must adhere to requirements of the VET legislative and compliance framework for Registered Training Organisations in addition to Defence policy. A Learning Assurance Officer will need to undertake assurance tasks within the framework and relevant policy with limited direction.The role requires the selected applicant to liaise with a range of stakeholders; this may require differing engagement approaches to ensure the achievement of assurance tasks.About our Team
The Assurance & Data Quality team is comprised of four APS employees and one contractor. This vacancy is one of two Learning Assurance Officers in the team who report to the APS 5 Quality Assurance Coordinator. All members of the team support the APS 6 DRTO Assurance Manager in ensuring the DRTO provides valid & compliant national accredited training outcomes for the whole of Defence.The DRTO exists within the National Skills Framework team of the Defence Education, Learning and Training Authority (DELTA) at the Australian Defence College, Weston.Our Ideal Candidate
It is highly desirable for Learning Assurance Officer applicants to have a high standard for attention to detail, as this skill is critical in achieving assurance and data quality tasks.
- Experience with quality assurance with any of the following; training, Human Resource (HR) data, use of databases, spreadsheets, client engagement would be desirable, as well an ability to undertake simple analysis and comparative tasks within a legislated framework.
- It is desirable to hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE16 or TAE22) or its relevant skill sets, or be willing to undertake training to achieve.
- Within the HR Delivery function, an APS4 Learning and Development Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex learning and development work within an integrated workforce.
- They are accountable to have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
- An APS4 Learning and Development Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required.
- They may exercise some discretion with respect to how legislation, procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied to their work.
- They will provide administrative support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the HR Delivery function.
- They may undertake some research and analysis activities.
