The Role
As a Government Quality Assurance Representative (GQAR) you will be a member of the APS 5 Technician Airframes-Engines Job family.
The work of the Airframes-Engines sub-function in Defence:
- Provide technical airframes-engines knowledge and advice, engaging with stakeholders to deliver and exercise appropriate technical delegations in line with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Investigate, report and perform technical airframes-engines assessments that support Defence materiel capability life cycle.
Within the Airframes-Engines sub-function an APS5 Technician – Airframes-Engines is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex technical Quality Assurance airframes-engines work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
An APS5 Technician – Airframes-Engines will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the airframes-engines sub-function based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist, technical research and analysis, conduct assessment, investigations and perform procedural or operational support work to achieve results.
The APS5 Technician – Airframes-Engines will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be required to be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit. They will perform procedural and clerical support work to achieve results. They may supervise a Subject Matter Expert as part of an audit team and be accountable to set work priorities and allocate work.
The APS5 Technician – Airframes-Engines will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
The duties of an APS5 Technician – Airframes-Engines may include:
- Perform moderately complex airframes-engines technical GQA activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
- Accountable for exercising assigned technical authorities.
- Research, apply and contribute to the development of technical documentation for review.
- Apply technical knowledge and experience, understand priorities to identify, define issues and implement corrective actions.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Tailor communication styles and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders via technical packages, reports, written correspondence, discussions and presentations.
- Assess technical packages including scoping, planning and reviewing of packages and provide recommendations for consideration.
- Assess technical packages, reports, processes and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, provide recommendations for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into airframes-engines technical activities and tasks.
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge of relevant processes, packages, product and equipment.
About our Team
Undertakes internationally delegated requests for Government Quality Assurance (GQA) to mitigate identified quality risks for Joint regional Defence Capability being serviced in Australia. ACSPO-GQARs undertake GQA process, product and system audits, and Government Source Inspection for F35 Air Vehicle products being serviced by Australian Defence Suppliers.
Our Ideal Candidate
Will be a highly professional, motivated, enthusiastic and experienced self-starter requiring limited supervision. You would have highly developed personal organisational skills and the ability to organise an audit team. Commensurate with this you will exhibit ability to identify/define issues; report on non-conformances; and formalise your findings through excellent report writing and documentation.
To achieve the auditing outcomes require you will have technical trade knowledge of manufacturing and/or maintenance procedures, corporate quality management systems (ISO-AS/NZS9001/AS9100) and be able to apply your knowledge and experience to undertake Quality Assurance auditing at a wide variety of manufacturing/maintenance facilities.
