Job description

The Role

Hudson has partnered a federal government agency seeking multiple Program Officers to manage and work as part of small teams, responsible for planning and implementing various aspects of their grants programs. Grant experience is welcome but not essential. Candidates with experience in procurement, contract management, program management, are encouraged to apply.

Duties

  • Support and manage grant tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage multiple tasks within set timeframes using effective time management and priority setting skills.
  • Interpret and consistently apply policy, procedures, guidelines and legislation.
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely advice to research sector and other external stakeholders, enquiries including sensitive handling of complaints and appeals.
  • Foster collaboration and manage professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customer centric approach.
  • Supervise and mentor employees by providing regular feedback and supporting the continual development of employee capability.
  • Prepare and review documents, reports, policy briefings and other correspondence.
  • Monitor budgets and ensure accurate tracking of spending and financial information.
  • Present data and information to provide compelling, accurate, evidence-based reporting.
  • Propose and facilitate innovation initiatives and contribute to business improvement strategies and to change in workplace practices.
  • Support planning and development activities for the branch
  • Undertake other duties such as, project management and secretariat support, as required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Display sound judgement, strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities and respond flexibly in a changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and/or programs including time management and organisational skills; and the ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage high-level stakeholders, build collaborative relationships and manage staff.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills, effectively sharing clear and accurate information.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for innovation and business improvement.
