The Role
The Australian Naval Classification Authority (ANCA) is responsible for establishing, managing and continuously improving a system of Naval Classification (the ANC Framework) to assure the seaworthiness of naval vessels operating in Defence of Australia. ANCA requires an experienced, agile self-starter to support the development and upkeep of the Australian Naval Classification (ANC) Framework.
The Promotion and Education Officer reports directly to the Deputy Director Education, Promotion, Communication, and Director ANC Framework. This position involves the support and coordination of a broad range of education and training, Promotion and communication and stakeholder management.
The Promotion and Education Officer undertakes a broad range of Branch activities including but not limited to:
- Assisting in the planning, management of learning and development, communication and promotion activities;
- Performing design, product development and evaluation of learning and development, communication and promotion activities, including reviewing and updating products/artefacts, as needed;
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to undertake dedicated project requirements;
- Management of the coordination and update of information detailed on internal and external webpages; and
- Assist in the planning and execution of stakeholder events and meetings, as required.

ANCA has a combination of both an APS and contractor workforce and has engaged a long term Sovereign Industry Partner, Bureau Veritas, to support ANCA work.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the Deputy Director to ensure education, Promotion and communication activities are aligned with Defence and Branch objectives, and support stakeholders in understanding ANCA’s mission, purpose and role. Our ideal candidate will have strong administrative and project management skills, can work cohesively in a diverse team and is committed to developing a culture of learning and understanding.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a learning and development and/or communication coordination role;
- The ability to work collaboratively and positively with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable successful production of communication and engagement plans, including products and artefacts;
- Capacity to build positive, collaborative working relationships across internal and external stakeholders, and to anticipate and respond to their needs and expectations;
- Good judgement to manage competing priorities and deadlines, and to maintain attention to detail;
- Collaborative skills to operate effectively within a team environment and make a positive contribution to team culture; and
- Initiative, flexibility and a demonstrated capacity to solve problems under pressure.
Previous experience and/or qualifications in communication, public relations or training and Education is desirable, but not essential. Experience using Adobe suite, learning management tools or similar products is also advantageous, but not essential. Additional professionalisation, training and development will be offered to successful candidates.
