- The Governance Officer plays a critical role in the oversight and application of the SATCOM SPO governance framework as it applies to acquisition projects and product sustainment activities. The Governance Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex assurance and compliance work. You will work with the SATCOM SPO Business Operations team to design and implement core functions aligned to CASG governance including quality compliance and audit, risk management coordination, development of processes and procedures, document control and corporate reporting.
- The Governance Officer will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. They will provide detailed quality assurance professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management.
Satellite Communications Systems Program Office (SATCOMSPO), within Space Systems Branch, works in partnership with Industry to deliver satellite communication technology equipment and services to customers across Defence in sustainment and operational environments.Space Systems Branch acquires and sustains SATCOM systems, and is a trusted advisor of SATCOM systems for the Australian Defence Organisation. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel. The team works from Brindabella Park Offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies.Our Ideal Candidate

- Providing advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on complex governance matters in accordance with relevant policy and procedures.
- The development and implementation of policies, processes and procedures consistent with Defence governance requirements.
- Coordinating and performing quality assurance, governance, auditing and corporate reporting activities.
- Developing, implementing, reviewing and providing guidance on quality assurance and governance procedures, practices and frameworks and improvement of business activities.
- Designing and implementing solutions to issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
- Prioritise governance activities and tasks and take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives.
- Analyse information for continuous improvement opportunities, resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action.
