About the Role
The APS 6 Project Officer will be required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support our Australian Government client's business objectives.
The position is a team leadership position that will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities. It will be required to provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision-making for the Team Membership within the positions assigned Work Area.
Responsibilities of the Role include but are not limited to:
- Provide specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders.
- Perform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports on relevant project activities.
- Coordinate regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports.
- Prepare draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation.
- Monitor project budgets, reviewing and reporting on expenditures and assisting with procurement and contract management as required.
- Identify and assist with the management of project risks, issues and benefits.
- Contribute to project quality management to ensure that project deliverables are fit for purpose and meet our client's needs.
Key skills and experience required for the Role include:
- Previous experience working within interfaces such as health, justice, or child protection.
- Previous experience writing business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documents.
Desirable skills and experience to have for the Role include:
- Experience undertaking research and analysis in a related area.
- Experience working in a virtual project team.
