The Role
The Strategic Communication Branch is seeking Social Media Officers at the APS6 level. These roles develop and implement creative Social Media campaigns and content. You will manage our day-to-day Social Media, developing engaging content, planning, monitoring, publishing and evaluating results using analytics and listening tools. You will also engage directly with our audience and lead on developing strategies to help us reach larger audiences both in Australia and overseas. Our channels help tell the stories of our people and you will have access to high-quality military photography and videography to showcase life in the Australian Defence Force. We are recruiting for several ongoing roles across the Strategic Communication Branch, including immediate vacancies embedded within Army and Navy.
A merit pool will also be established to fill vacancies in the Branch.

The Strategic Communication Branch has employees embedded across the Groups and Services of Defence and is responsible for day-to-day media and communication operations. The Strategic Communication Branch provides a range of services including media and public affairs support to Ministers, Senior Defence Leaders and Defence Groups and Services, strategic communication, Social Media and imagery and videography services. The Strategic Communication Branch is a large branch and provides numerous career opportunities for communications professionals and emerging public sector leaders seeking to strengthen their credentials.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to build positive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Qualifications and/or professional experience in Social Media, media, communication or public affairs would be beneficial.
