As the Work Instruction Assurance Officer, your role reports to the Maintenance Demand Operations Manager. You are responsible for ensuring the Work Instructions developed by Regional Maintenance Provider – West (RMP-W) industry party (Babcock) are technically correct IAW the Technical Regulatory Authority – Navy, and Australian Navy Publications to ensure the Navy vessel is maintained in a seaworthy state to perform a range of roles from Border Protection to Operational Duties.This role (under broad direction) manages and assist with the system engineering activities associated with the sustainment of In-Service capability.Duties include but not limited to:
- Approves Work Instructions developed by the Regional Maintenance Provider to ensure they are authored to the correct standard in accordance with approved processes.
- Exercises assigned technical authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
- Provides feedback regarding improvements or additions to technical documentation.
- Monitors planning of engineering change tasks to ensure readiness for production.
- Tracks the EMP Supplementary Defect List (SDL) and manage additional scope work.
- Perform Quality Assurance activities on maintenance documentation.
- Assesses technical packages, reports, processes, product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements and provide recommendations.

Regional Maintenance Centre West (RMC-W) is seeking an experienced and passionate Work Instruction Assurance Officer who is looking for a new challenge and be part of a growing workforce based at Henderson WA derived on Defence’s Maritime Sustainment Model.RMC – W resides within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) /Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) /Maintenance Branch, with our headquarters located in Henderson, WA. The RMC-W is an integrated workforce comprising of military and APS staff at a range of levels.The role of RMC-W is to provide maritime sustainment to the Royal Australian Navy surface ships via a contractual arrangement with Babcock (Regional Maintenance Provider –West). There are three other regional maintenance centres located in Sydney, Cairns and Darwin. Collectively (with Defence Industry) we provide Defence capability to the both the Surface Combatant Fleet and Minor Warfare vessels.Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Advance Diploma or Associated Degree in a Maritime, Civil, Aviation or Electrical environment.
- Highly desirable to have Navy or maritime technical experience (preferred).
- Excellent communications both written and oral.
- Experience in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of maintenance and reliability best practices (preferred).
- Knowledge of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
