An exciting opportunity to join a Federal Government department responsible for providing weather services across Australia. They are currently seeking a National Technical Support Officer to engage in a full-time 6-month temporary contract. The experienced candidate will form part of a dedicated team until September 2024, based in the Cairns hub.
Your new role
The National Technical Support Officer will play a vital role in the team, providing essential administrative and operational support to ensure the successful execution of organisational uplift, initiatives, and national operations.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all administrative and operational activities are carried out. This role requires a detail-oriented and organised individual who can effectively coordinate activities, maintain documentation, and provide administrative support to the Leadership Team.
Administrative Support: including routine correspondence, preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence to support information flow and inform decision-making.
Communication Support: Lead the preparation and distribution of communication materials. Facilitate communication amongst stakeholders, ensuring timely updates.
Meeting Coordination: Schedule meetings, workshops, and reviews. Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, tracking action items and follow-ups. Provide logistics and event management support to ensure meetings, training activities and events are effectively organised, catered for and required technology is provided.
Documentation & Record Keeping: Lead the preparation of operational and technical maintenance reports and associated documentation. Undertake administrative tasks such as finance reconciliations, procurement, inventory records, stores and stock control. Maintain accurate documentation, including plans, schedules, and reports. Organise and file records for easy retrieval and reference. Manage and coordinate SharePoint sites.
Other Relevant Duties: Undertake other duties as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a similar position within the government or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and be able to apply this knowledge to their work. As well as this, you will have knowledge and skills in the area below –
Previous experience in administrative or operations support roles is preferred.
Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Leadership skills.
Australian Citizenship is required
Eligible or ability to obtain and maintain Baseline Clearance
