APS5/6 Financial Accountant and Assets

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant and Assets to join Federal Government client on a non-ongoing basis with the potential for permanency. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in accounting principles, advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage financial accounting tasks including but not limited to asset accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information by meticulously inputting and reconciling data in Excel spreadsheets and accounting systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their financial needs and provide timely, insightful reporting and analysis.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Contribute to asset management activities including asset tracking, depreciation, and valuation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven experience in financial accounting roles
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical mindset
• Excellent communication skills
