Job description

  • APS6 Compliance Policy Officer role within a Federal Government Agency
  • 12 Months initial contract with possible extension
  • Deakin Location with flexible working arrangement

Our client is seeking for an APS6 Compliance Policy Officer to join the Compliance Program Branch.

About the role
The Compliance Program Branch is responsible for providing the strategic and operational direction of the Agency’s compliance function to ensure payment integrity and facilitate a reduction of potential fraud and financial non-compliance against the Agency.

The branch aim is to engage with Agency staff, partners, participants and providers to promote good compliance practice and early intervention when financial non-compliance is identified. We actively engage in positive reinforcement, early intervention, and mutual awareness and ownership towards compliance and good practice.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing cross-division policy and technical support in complex operational matters and policy interpretation.
  • Maintaining contemporary understanding of whole of Agency and function-specific policies, guidance and tools, assisting operational areas in embedding compliance best practice.
  • Researching and preparing materials for internal working groups, think tanks and other strategic engagements for achieving compliant outcomes.
  • Applying a contemporary understanding of disability across divisional support initiatives, ensuring the program delivers high quality, participant centric outcomes.
  • Supporting the Assistant Director in identifying opportunities for strengthening controls and policies for compliance integration in the broader NDIA ecosystem.

NOTE: the key responsibilities of the role are based on current priorities and may change over time

Skills and Experience
Key skills required for role/s:

  • Experience in similar roles that required the administration of a structured assurance program, including the design and implementation of a Quality or Assurance program, or experience undertaking audit activity.
  • Experience identifying and communicating outcomes of Quality activity.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and supporting a team
    Desirable skills to have for the role/s:
  • Experience in government
  • Experience designing and delivering capability development activities to address identified gaps and areas for growth
