The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced APS6 Payroll Officer to join our client on a 12-month non-ongoing/temp transfer basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll on a fortnightly basis, handling payroll queries, and serving as the primary point of contact for payroll matters within the organisation. You will be working with systems such as iChris and Tech1, leading a small team that includes one APS5 Payroll Officer.

This role requires regular interaction with both HR and Finance departments, ensuring seamless integration and efficient payroll operations.

The Role

The APS6 Senior Payroll Officer’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Management of the organisation's payroll function, including associated fortnightly, monthly, and year-end reconciliations
  • Administration and maintenance of the iCHRIS payroll system and HR21 Kiosk employee self-service system to support the agency and its employees
  • Management of CSC Superannuation, Clearinghouse, and STP processes
  • Production, checking, and provision of data to the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC), such as the Annual Remuneration Survey and APSED monthly movement files
  • Coordination and preparation for internal and external auditing of payroll for legislative and other compliance matters
The Ideal Person

The ideal candidate is a systems-focused Senior Payroll specialist with strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities.

They will work collaboratively to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and compliance with external requirements. With strong technical experience in iCHRIS, they will identify and implement business improvements.

They are comfortable in a small team, capable of independently managing their workload, meeting competing deadlines, and adapting in a fast-paced environment while displaying initiative and motivation in fulfilling the payroll responsibilities of the Business Partnership and Strategy section.
 
Salary / Rate

$95k - $105k + 15.4% Super
