ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Payroll Operations team manages the payroll services to SDO clients to enable them to increase productivity and concentrate on their core business. We are responsible for the management and administration of all payroll systems and processes associated with human resources data and reporting. We are committed to consistently improving service standards through innovation, systems, and process enhancements.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
An APS 5 employee in the Payroll Operations team is required to undertake complex tasks and work under minimal direction. You are expected to possess sound knowledge of payroll functions and are expected to process payroll transactions for a large client base. You are accountable for meeting daily and weekly goals and are expected to organise your own workload and make decisions within defined parameters relating to the area of responsibility. It is a client contact role and you will be required to communicate with and provide advice to a range of external stakeholders.
The role is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Complex payroll processing such as termination calculations, processing leave audits and compensation processing and payments.
- Supporting the Team Leader with the leadership, management, and training of the team.
- Triaging client requests and timely workflow tickets resolution.
- Responding to clients on a range of complex pay and employment condition.

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
- This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. A position may be offered as ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
