We are looking for a highly motivated APS6 Technical Writer to join our Enterprise Architect and Governance Branch.
The branch is responsible for supporting the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) by providing centralised communication, risk analysis, reporting and assurance activities. Additionally, the team ensures adherence to established policies and procedures as well as preparing briefs for the Chief Information Officer.
The successful candidate will have proven experience as a Technical Writer in IT or a related field. It is highly desirable to have experience in government, risk, assurance, or a regulatory environment. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in plain English. Knowledge of IT terminologies and processes is highly regarded.
The key duties of the position include:In this role, you will play an instrumental part by creating clear, concise, and user-friendly communication that supports the OCIO to effectively reach out to its stakeholders. Your communications expertise will help you to offer written deliverable for ICT Governance, Risk, Assurance and Communications.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
• Documentation Development: Create and maintain technical documentation including policy documents, procedural guides, project plans, reports, governance frameworks, risk, and assurance documentation.
• Collaborative Writing: Work closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and IT professionals to produce accurate and coherent documentation that meets the needs of its intended audience.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all Office of the Chief Information Officer documents adhere to NDIA standards for accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Conduct regular reviews and updates to maintain the relevance of published content.
• User-Centric Communication: Develop targeted communication materials with a focus on user experience, ensuring that complex Office of the Chief Information is presented and meets Plain English and Accessibility guidelines for a range of audiences.
• Content Management: Utilise content management systems (Confluence, SharePoint, Intranet) to organise Office of the Chief Information Officer documentation, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship. Failure to do so may jeopardise your offer of employment.
- Dependent on the role the appropriate Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People check may be required as per State/Territory legislation. In addition to these checks, a Worker Screening Check issued by the relevant State/Territory worker screening unit will also be required for any role for which the normal duties are likely to require more than incidental contact with people with disability.
- This position will be offered as ongoing or non-ongoing.
- If the position is offered as non-ongoing, this will be for a specified term of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to two years.
- Should a non-ongoing position become ongoing, then a merit list established through this selection process may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.
