Matt Kennedy Drafting & Design are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated casual Drafting Assistant to join our small team.
The role would suit a recent graduate, or someone who is nearing completion of their studies. The role is based out of our office in Mornington, Tasmania.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will work closely with the lead Architects/Designers to prepare detailed documentation and renders for residential and commercial projects
- Ensuring designs comply with building codes/regulation and basic understanding of Local Council and State/National planning schemes and policies
- Communicating with engineers and external consultants, ordering reports (including BAL reports, contour surveys, wastewater assessments, soil reports, etc) and incorporating into drawing sets
- Assisting with DA submission to relevant councils, following up on deadlines and liaising with Project Manager / lead Architect in regards to any RFI’s received
- Preparing and amending working drawings / construction documentation utilising ArchiCAD including engineering, plumbing plans, electrical plans, etc
- Working with lead Designer to ensure final designs are compliant with building regulations and preparing for final CLC submissions
- Establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with current clients and external consultants
- Meeting with lead Architect/designer and clients to take notes on any changes to preliminary designs
- Work on a number of varied entry-level projects with the oversight, direction and sign off from lead Designers from concept to completion
- Administration duties - Assisting with new enquiries, scheduling meetings, onboarding clients and general office duties
Successful candidates must have
- Certificate IV in Residential Drafting (or equivalent certification and/or experience)
- Proficient in 3D Design & Drafting with ArchiCAD a must
- Rendering experience a plus
- At least 1+ years experience in drafting or interior design
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and time management skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent process-orientated organisational skills
- Proven ability to work independently
- The successful applicant must have knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards and relevant Tasmanian planning schemes
