Role:
Based in Melbourne with travel to Sydney, you will provide architectural services on projects as and when required. Services include design and planning of buildings, building procurement advice and construction contract administration.
Technical tasks:
· Work on projects with other members of the design team, clients and contractors, attending all necessary meetings;
· Develop and refine architectural design concepts for metro stations, considering factors such as passenger flow, safety, accessibility, aesthetics, and sustainability.
· Apply your understanding of metro station design principles, urban planning, and transportation infrastructure to assist in developing innovative and functional design solutions.
· Obtain advice from clients and consultants to assist in preparation of the project brief and programme;
· Prepare architectural design concepts and outline specifications incorporating strategic engineering requirements;
· Develop and coordinate with the design team project design documents and information, integrating structural, mechanical, and environmental elements in final designs. Project documentation may include sketches, scaled drawings, details, specifications and schedules;
· Prepare specifications and contract documents for tendering to contractors;
· Visit construction sites and/or be part of any resident architect’s team to monitor progress, inspect work and ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards;
· Assist in co-ordination of provision of services;
· Comply with quality management procedures;
· Comply with CAD and graphic standards;
· Attend meetings and liaise with third parties as necessary.
Skills/Qualifications required:
· Architectural diploma (and/or degree)
· Relevant experience of working in an architect’s office
· Experience of working on large scale projects and working with major clients and contractors. Taking part in large scale iconic projects in the region is a plus.
· Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD; and
· Understanding of the principles and practice of building design and urban design.
· Experience in architectural design, with a focus on metro station projects.
· Strong knowledge of urban design principles, transportation infrastructure, and the specific requirements of metro station design.
