About the OPPORTUNITYWe have a great opportunity for an
Area Manager to join our Maritime Sustainment team in the
DCE Program.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.Reporting to the Ship Manager, the
Area Manager is accountable for the outfit, integration and completion of all production work scope including acceptance of the allocated Ship Area within the Osborne Naval Shipyard.The incumbent will initially be responsible for developing Production Plans, Processes and Build Strategies in the process of mobilising the program. The role will move into a phase of implementation, managing production pilot work scope and ultimately managing the production work on board the Ship to ensure that the governance of safety, quality, cost and schedule for the allocated Ship Area meets all program goals and deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:- The Area Manager is primarily responsible to safely deliver an Area of the Ship throughout the Shipbuilding lifecycle
- The Shipbuilding scope of this role will include:
- Docking and undocking activities
- Upgrades and engineering changes
- Maintenance activities
- Key Ship construction milestones, inclusive but not limited to:
- Float Off (FO)
- Shore power through switchboards (SPTS)
- Combat System Light off (CSLO)
- Sea Trials
- Compartment Completion and Acceptance
- Establish strong relationships and work collaboratively with the Customer in accordance with Head Contract objectives
- Responsible for the career development of team members
- Control Account and Contract Master Schedule obligations
About YOU- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or proven equivalent trade discipline or relevant experience
- Project Management qualification desirable
- Demonstrated experience in a heavy engineering and/ or defence environment; including environmental considerations
- Demonstrated experience in leadership of multi-functional teams in a complex operating environment
- The ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the business
- Knowledge of Shipbuilding processes and marine terminology
- Demonstrated Experience in Earned Value Management on complex programs
- NV1 clearance required
