About the role

The Art Therapist is responsible for art therapy service delivery, development and practice and initiates and manages creative projects to optimise positive consumer engagement, community cultural engagement and community partnerships.  The Art Therapist is responsible for managing a safe, well-equipped, recovery-focussed Art Space in the Shared Activity Centre.

The Art Therapist will complete a range of skilled evidence-based clinical Art Therapy duties including assessing consumer needs and developing, implementing and monitoring specialised and targeted individual and group interventions to support the achievement of the consumers’ clinical goals and to improve level of functioning.

The Art Therapist works within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Services (IRS) multidisciplinary team providing skilled evidence based professional Art Therapy services to consumers with complex, severe, chronic mental health challenges.  The Art Therapist contributes to individual care planning and clinical reviews in consultation with consumers and the multidisciplinary team.

As a specialist on Art therapy in mental health, the Art Therapist also provides information and education to the broader health service and community and may provide short term clinical interventions or consultancy services to the broader Glenside Health Service. The Art Therapist must be Registered as a Professional Member with Australia, New Zealand and Asia Creative Arts Therapy Association (ANZACATA).

Qualifications

  • Registered Art Therapist with an appropriate Master’s Degree or equivalent Art Therapy qualification to register as a Professional Member of Australia, New Zealand and Asia Creative Arts Therapy Association (ANZACATA).

Essential Requirements:

  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
