Qualifications & experience
- Professional membership of Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA)
- Experience working within mental health and disability sector
- WWCC, police check, and first aid training (or willing to obtain one prior to commencement of role)
- Must have own car and be able to drive to and from clients residence
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic interventions using visual arts, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, using sand and play for mental health diagnoses, wellbeing and early intervention and developmental disorders.
- Help participants resolve conflicts, develop interpersonal skills, manage behaviour, reduce stress, increase self esteem, and achieve insight.
- Design art therapy sessions or programs to meet client goals and document progress along with report writing when necessary.
- Gather client information from sources such as case documentation, client observation, or interviews of client or family/support team.
- Build clients capacity and ability to express through the form of arts
- Work with multi disciplinary team to help achieve client goals and identify gaps and/or barriers
