About the Wellness and Supportive Program
The integrated model of multidisciplinary care within Cancer Services relies on a dynamic, appropriately qualified, and skilled team to support patients undergoing care in both the Inpatient and Ambulatory settings, with a key focus on Integrated Wellness and Supportive Care.
Arts in Healthcare
This is part of the integrated multidisciplinary care within Cancer Services and is an integral part of the Wellness and Supportive care model. The program focuses on enabling the process of meaning making through creative interventions to help patients and families make sense of their experiences. Creativity is at the heart of the program, and it is fundamental to human experience, identity and personal narratives.
About the role
The Grade 2 Art Therapist will work as part of the Arts in Healthcare Team under the leadership of the Arts in Healthcare Co-Ordinator/Senior Art Therapist as well as within the broader multidisciplinary team context. The Grade 2 Art Therapist will need to demonstrate sound experience in planning and delivering appropriate evidence-based art therapy interventions to patients and carers in oncology settings. Clinical work will include inpatients and outpatients providing both individualised and group art therapy.
A regular day will see you:
- Plan and deliver tailored, high quality, evidence-based Art therapy services to cancer patients and their carers, individually and within groups, and in collaboration with the Arts in Healthcare team.
- Actively participate in weekly team meetings (Arts in Healthcare staff, patient triaging, multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate) to raise the profile of the Arts Therapy program and generate referrals to all services.
- Actively participate in clinical supervision and performance development.
- Accepts responsibility for professional self-development through review of own performance and identification of learning opportunities
- Make referrals to all other health disciplines as required.
- Co-facilitating programs where appropriate
About you
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
- Completion of a Master of Art Therapy degree or equivalent
- Current “Professional” registration with ANZACATA
- Minimum three years art therapy clinical experience in a relevant area
- Experience in the delivery of evidence-based individual & group art therapy programs in a health setting.
- Program development and evaluation experience
- Provision of supervision to Grade 1 employees and Master of Art Therapy students
- Willing to participate in regular clinical supervision
