ASD is entering an exciting phase of growth, innovation and transformation. Our agency has committed to delivering REDSPICE, which is the most significant single investment in the Australian Signals Directorate’s 75 years.
There are a number of teams within ASD seeking candidates who are interested in Technical Cyber operator positions. These teams tackle complex tasks, leverage internal knowledge and skills, as well as the expertise of subject matter specialists around them. All team members are supported in ongoing professional development and training, and provided opportunities to develop skillsets to keep pace with evolving priorities and technological advancements.
The Role
As a Technical Cyber Operator, you will be provided with a unique opportunity to undertake challenging and rewarding work. You will conduct Technical Cyber operations that contribute directly to ASD’s core missions to inform, disrupt and protect. Working under ASD’s legal oversight, you will be given a ‘license to hack’. You may conduct offensive Technical Cyber operations to disrupt, deny or degrade the computer networks of adversaries, to support military operations and to counter terrorism, cyber espionage and serious cyber-enabled crime.
ASD will mentor, develop and train you to be amongst the best. You will work in multidisciplinary teams and learn to use our specialised systems. We will support you with on the job training, and you may have the opportunity to attend domestic or international relevant industry courses and conferences to develop your skills. ASD will help you build strong foundations for a diverse and rewarding career.

EligibilityCitizenship - To be eligible for employment with ASD, applicants must be an Australian citizen. Health Assessment - The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the Agency’s preferred medical provider.
Organisational Suitability Assessment – To be eligible for employment within ASD, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (see Organisational Assessment section).
Security Clearance - The preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process at a specified clearance level. The preferred applicant MUST be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. It is a condition of employment that applicants are willing and able to obtain and maintain the requisite security clearance for the duration of their employment with ASD.
