The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services / perinatal women.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists within CAMHS Northern Country Team, located at Kadina & Port Pirie to join the team as Aboriginal Social & Emotional Wellbeing Worker, ASO5 on an Ongoing, full time capacity.
As the CAMHS Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker, you will:
- Ensure optimal consumer care in CAMHS as the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker.
- Emphasize cultural safety in engagement, assessment, education/advocacy, counselling, and group work.
- Collaborate with CAMHS disciplines, government, and non-government organizations through ongoing consultation and liaison.
- Apply expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience to provide direction, support, orientation, and education to staff.
- Lead and participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities, and policy development within the CAMHS practice setting.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have to:
- Demonstrate ability to integrate Aboriginal cultural experiences
- Communicate and work with other professionals, facilitate group functions and work as a team member
- Demonstrated experience in engaging, establishing relationships, having informed discussions with Aboriginal children and young people
- Demonstrated experience working in social and emotional/mental health services and/or other relevant community services, and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of appropriate counselling and group work modalities for Aboriginal children, young people and their families
