    • Classification - OPS5 - Operational Services Officer L5 - $80,877 to $86,461 pro rata
  • Employment Part time - Term Contract (temporary up to 30 Jun 2025)

Yarrow Place Rape and Sexual Assault Service is a service of the Health and Recovery, Trauma Safety Services (HaRTSS) Division for anyone who has been sexually assaulted. Yarrow Place provides free and confidential service for people aged 16 years and over at the time of being sexually assaulted. Services include:

  • 24 Hour Crisis Response Service for recent sexual assault—this includes support from a social worker, medical care by a doctor or nurse, and collection of forensic evidence for people who are considering legal action.
  • Professional counselling and advocacy for recent and past sexual assault clients as well as their support people.
  • Group programs, seminars, education, training and community capacity-building.
  • Country response program, providing counselling in the Riverland, Mount Gambier, Whyalla and outreach to surrounding areas including Port Augusta and Port Lincoln regions.
  • The Intensive Therapeutic Care Program for Guardianship young people aged 12-25 years who are at risk of sexual exploitation (DCP Referral only—young people must be under Guardianship at time of referral).

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists within HaRTSS (Yarrow Place) to join us as an Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct expert care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
  • Offer cultural leadership to multidisciplinary staff.
  • Offer cultural expertise and clinical recommendations to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for program consumers.
  • Address cultural safety and undertake culturally informed engagement, assessment, education/advocacy, counselling, and group work.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, government, and non-government organizations to deliver culturally safe and trauma-responsive interventions.
  • Utilise expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience to provide direction, support, orientation, and education to other staff.
  • Lead and participate in projects, quality improvement activities, and policy development within the practice setting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, with a focus on integrating Aboriginal cultural experiences into practice.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in engaging and establishing relationships with Aboriginal young people and their families.
  • Extensive experience in assessing and intervening in complex health and social issues socio-cultural contexts.
  • Background in working within multidisciplinary teams and reflecting on professional practice.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, historical and contemporary issues affecting health and wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with appropriate counselling and group work modalities for Aboriginal consumers.
