About the Role:
The Principal GIS Systems Lead will hold a lead technical role within the Data Insights team in the Department for Education. The primary responsibilities will involve the creation, management, and maintenance of DfE Geographic Information System (GIS) infrastructure, with a focus on building cloud and Enterprise GIS solutions that integrates with our other data and analysis platforms. This position will require close collaboration with the Manager, Spatial Analysis and Forecasting, other team members and teams to develop long term solutions that transform the way spatial data is managed and ensure seamless access to spatial information and outputs for all stakeholders (including static and interactive maps, apps, reports and data feeds).
Specific priorities will be set and monitored. The Principal GIS Systems Lead will gain a strong understanding of the education system’s context and business needs to evaluate how spatial information could be better leveraged to help to realise the department’s vision.
Qualifications:
Desirable: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geospatial Sciences, Computer Science or a related field.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
ASO7 $106,512 - 115,137 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation
