About the Position
The South Australian Skills Commission (the Commission) regulates the apprenticeship/ traineeship system in South Australia and advises the Minister for Education, Training and Skills on the quality and performance of vocational education and training (VET) and adult community education (ACE) in South Australia. The Commission has established ten Industry Skills Councils that support this ministerial advisory role as well as its other legislated functions (under the South Australian Skills Act 2008) and that also act as key points of industry engagement for the remainder of government.
The Senior Research and Data Analyst role is responsible for leading, coordinating and undertaking complex data analysis projects and product development to support effective program management and decision making. The ability to translate information into actionable insights and compelling narratives, essential for effective communication across diverse audiences, is highly valued. The position will work in close collaboration with the South Australian Skills Commissioner, Commission members, Industry Skills Councils, and key external stakeholders, and is pivotal in providing technical data analysis services to staff of the Office of the Commission. Priority tasks include developing new systems and protocols for internal business management data collection and analysis, as well as optimising the use of external industry and skills datasets.
Qualifications
Essential: Appropriate qualifications in statistics, economics, mathematics, social sciences, data management, information management or a related discipline with a substantial statistical component.
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

ASO8: $119,317 - $123,822 per annum plus superannuation
