A vacancy exists in our Homeless Health Service for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team provides a caring environment for our staff in their delivery of culturally appropriate, high quality patient centred care. The Assertive Outreach Registered Nurse provides evidence-based nursing care to people living with complex unmet health needs who are experiencing primary homelessness in inner city Sydney. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in collaboration with clients, the multidisciplinary team and a range of stakeholders. The Registered Nurse takes a leadership role in the coordination of healthcare within and across different care contexts, in consultation with stakeholders. Clients are assisted to access mainstream and specialist healthcare and support services to improve their health and well-being outcomes.
The position is 12 months fixed-term full time, Monday – Friday. There will be occasional early start times.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate Registered Nurse who is committed to working alongside people with complex health needs to achieve their goals and improve health and wellbeing. You will need experience coordinating healthcare and collaborating with partner services while keeping clients at the centre. We welcome applications from people who are trauma informed and strengths-focussed, with a commitment to facilitating access to healthcare for those who experience significant systemic barriers.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
3. Ability to competently provide nursing care, assessment and triage to people experiencing homelessness in an outreach setting, including demonstrated competence in the effective prioritisation of co-occurring health and other needs.
4. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to issues relating to homelessness, the utilisation of a strengths-based framework, clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
5. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients, the multidisciplinary team and a range of internal and external stakeholders. 6.
7. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a Registered Nurse
8. Current NSW Drivers License
