About Burton
BUMA Australia has been awarded the contract to develop and mine several satellite pits that are near the old Burton Mine and our existing Broadmeadow Mine operation. Coal extracted at these satellite pits will be transported and processed through the Burton CHPP and railed from the onsite Train Load Out facility. Burton is world renowned for its high-quality coking coal which is highly sought after in global export markets.
The scope of works includes statutory management of the mining operations, clearing, grubbing and topsoil removal, drill and blast, load and haul of coal and waste, dump management and progressive rehabilitation works.
Job description:
We are currently seeking a permanent full time Asset Engineer to join our Burton team on a lifestyle roster (5/2, 4/3) roster.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for providing technical support in the ongoing improvement of fleet operations through the use of innovative reliability, condition monitoring and asset technology techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement reliability and condition monitoring methodologies to achieve reliability excellence for mobile assets.
- Identify any maintenance projects that will be beneficial to both asset health and reliability, and justify through suitable cost/benefit analysis.
- Review equipment failure modes and utilise engineering expertise to develop practical maintenance strategies to mitigate the consequence of equipment failures.
- Use life cycle costing to support financial decision-making including end-of-life repair vs replace decisions or selection of new assets.
- Mentor and develop graduate engineers and trades people in equipment condition monitoring and reliability techniques, with a strong focus on improving inspection and work quality.

Profile description:
As an Asset Engineer your role at BUMA will be built upon four main pillars:
- Reliability Engineering
- Condition Monitoring
- Asset Technology
- Improvement Project Work
As such the ideal candidate would have a combination of the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Maintenance Engineering stream (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics etc), or a Maintenance trades background.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance related roles. Experience with mobile assets necessary.
- Maintenance planning experience or on-site mining experience in an operational maintenance role desirable.
- Asset health and condition-based maintenance experience.
- Analytical capability, with knowledge of fundamental reliability analysis techniques including RCA, FMEA and Predictive Maintenance tools.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP (preferable), and project management tools.
- Demonstrated positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour.
