Job Description:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance department in various accounting tasks. Working under the supervision of the Finance Manager, you will assist in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Your attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will be critical to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for employees.
- Help in the preparation of budget forecasts and variance analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Support the year-end audit process by providing necessary documentation and assisting auditors as needed.
- Maintain organised and up-to-date financial records, both electronic and hard copy, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and improve overall financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience (1-3 years) in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a similar industry.
- Qualified or studying towards CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification is desirable.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment.
