Good Shepherd Lodge LTD is currently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. To be successful for this role, you will have knowledge and skills in the operation of computer based accounting systems and a sound understanding of financial management. You will possess excellent communication skills, be honest, reliable, hardworking and have pride in the quality of your work.
The duties of this role include:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, verify transactions, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering financial data, analysing trends, and preparing budget variance reports.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Payroll Processing: Assist in processing payroll, including verifying timesheets and calculating wages.
- Audit Support: Provide support during financial audits by preparing documentation, answering queries, and assisting auditors as needed.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
As Assistant Accountant, you will support the Chief Financial Officer with the finance and payroll functions of the business ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Qualifications or demonstrated experience in Accounting or business related activities
- Sound knowledge and skills in operation of computer based accounting systems
- Demonstrated sound understanding of financial management systems including the analysis and interpretation of accounting data and to effectively communicate conclusions
- Advanced negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills for an environment of change and evolution.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously when required and to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
- Proven ability to be a 'team oriented player' including a high standard of verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with members of staff, residents and public - displaying diplomacy, integrity, discretion and confidentiality
- Strong understanding of Work Health & Safety Principles including Risk Management
