The Role

Working closely with our Accountants, as an Assistant Accountant on our Virtual CFO Team you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely accounts processing and reconciliation services to a range of SME clients in various industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero accounting software
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements utilising automation tools where possible
  • Process supplier invoices in Dext, reconcile supplier statements, liaise with suppliers and prepare payments ready for approval
  • Prepare customer invoices, send statements and follow up overdue accounts as required
  • Prepare monthly payroll reconciliations and returns including Payroll Tax & Instalment Activity Statements
  • Assist the Accountants with the on-boarding of new clients into the team including setting up Xero, Dext & Approval Max systems
  • Liaise with clients in regards to queries and missing information
  • Assist the Accountants with other accounting tasks as required

About You

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have a strong desire to contribute to team success.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following experience and attributes:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
  • A degree or diploma in Accounting (or studying towards)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Xero accounting system
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Exceptional organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and invest in their own learning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and can operate well within a team
  • Experience working on multiple business entities and/or within a client service environment would be advantageous
