Primary objective
Lead the delivery of effective and efficient Payroll Services to a diverse range of client agencies.
Context statement
As a share service provider Whole of Government Payroll Operations provides payroll services through administration and
processing employee entitlements and conditions, including paying salaries and allowances.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide leadership in the delivery of employment and payroll client services.
2. Manage a large and diverse workforce to ensure appropriate resourcing to deliver services and managing internal and external
expectations and communications.
3. Build and maintain positive relationships with a portfolio of client agencies ensuring a client customer focus.
4. Resolve complex issues relating to client queries, staffing issues and application of legislation.
5. Identify innovative contemporary ways to meet client service needs utilising effective delivery, governance and technology.
6. Contribute subject matter expertise to an ongoing program of automation including participation on project groups and testing
requirements.
7. Identify issues and opportunities, and contribute to the development of effective work practices, accurate processing and
appropriate client services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience leading large teams in the delivery of transactional services to complex and varied client groups.
2. Working knowledge of employment legislation with respect to payroll process and administering employee entitlements.
3. Proven experience in managing resources to achieve outcomes and competing demands e.g. people, budget and technology.
4. Experience developing and implementing process improvements and more efficient work practices.
5. High level of personal motivation, organisation and initiative to achieve outcomes and the ability to motivate others.
6. Ability to contribute positively and work as part of a team to identify and resolve issues, manage recourses across a broader
group and provide support.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative
and respectful.

1. Relevant qualification or a willingness to undertake further professional development.
