The Assistant Director of Family and Community Services (Assistant Director) is a key member of the management team reporting to the Director - Family and Community Services (FCS). The Assistant Director will implement approved policies and programs, oversee financial management of the approved budget for FCS and programs working with the Director FCS and other members of the FCS management team are responsible for the MDAS Family and Community Services Operational Plan and delivery of the FCS Annual Business Plan.
The Assistant Director ensures quality and safety are at the forefront of service provision. The position will be responsible to assist in leading FCS processes and practices, in line with MDAS and State policy and legislation. This position will be responsible for ensuring the operational supervision and management of the FCS management team.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and experience across a broad range of FCS functions.
• Demonstrated high level negotiation and conflict management skills as well as communication and relationship building abilities.
• High level people management skills across multidisciplinary team and demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.
• Extensive demonstrated experienced in change management processes and procedures.
• Experienced in the application of advanced strategic planning, business planning and regulatory issues.
• Demonstrated experience with reporting requirements.
• High level experience in reporting with a demonstrated ability to analyse data for service improvement.
• Demonstrated advocacy skills to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Tertiary qualifications in social services or related field, and tertiary qualifications in management or a willingness to obtain.
