What you will do as the Assistant Director, Performance Planning and Reporting

This 9-12 month temporary role will provide the opportunity to learn about the varied, exciting, and important work that the ACCC undertakes to make markets work for consumers, now and in the future.
As the Assistant Director, Performance and Reporting, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and experience in project management, governance, and stakeholder engagement, and expand your networks.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to obtain and provide information, advice and recommendations on the agency’s planning, performance and Reporting outcomes.
- Preparing high quality written reports and oral presentations on the agency’s planning, performance and Reporting to relevant decision-making boards and committees.
- Leading, implementing and promoting clear, current and relevant work processes and project planning to assist people to undertake functions and meet reporting obligations.
- Keeping abreast of guidance from the Department of Finance about best practice planning, performance and Reporting for Commonwealth entities, and appropriately advise senior management.
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
- Experience in developing an Annual Report or Corporate Plan for a Commonwealth entity is highly desired, including ensuring compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to succinctly present and clearly communicate information in written form.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders. In particular, the ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly at senior levels (EL2, SES and Commissioners/Board members) within an agency and to influence, negotiate and advocate effectively within networks.
- Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to undertake objective, systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions and support evidence-based decision making.
- Ability to lead others. This includes building capability in others by modelling positive behaviours, providing a professional and harmonious working environment, coaching, giving performance feedback, resolving conflict and facilitating career development.
- Project management – the ability to work with a high level of autonomy under broad direction, to ensure quality outputs are delivered in a timely manner.
