About The Role:

Operating within a central agency, this high-level leadership role contributes to our strategic and operational outcomes to support best practice and continuous improvement in procurement for both internal stakeholders and client public sector agencies.

Leading a team of 13 within the Department of Finance’s ‘General Agencies’ customer team, you will oversee the development of complex, high-risk contracts for goods and services, including overseeing the development of procurement plans, requests for tender and evaluation reports. You will also provide best practice advice on complex, high-risk strategic procurement, and contract management matters, including but not limited to providing advice on proposed contract variations whilst maintaining positive and effective relationships with client government agencies.

You will mentor and coach your team members, and actively contribute to the development of procurement capability in the Department of Finance through participation in various cross-team reference and working groups. You will establish strong collaborative partnerships with client agencies and with other business units within Finance.

About You:

We’re looking for procurement experts who identify as either Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and/or as living with disability.

The team provides support for over 40 different agencies and hence the successful applicant will be pragmatic and flexible, and who can work in an environment where the client needs, and their operational contexts, can vary significantly.

Currently there is one (1) permanent full-time or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week) position available for filling. Whilst this selection process will initially be used to appoint to this advertised vacancy it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that may arise in the Agency within the next twenty-four (24) months on a full-time, part-time, permanent, or fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
