The key duties of the position include
Successful candidates will:
- contribute to the strategic direction for the section and develop work plans accordingly, using relevant legislation and policy frameworks as a guide
- make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluate risks and identify problems in the context of a complex and changing environment, taking appropriate action to address them early
- prepare briefs and advice for senior executives and the Minister
- lead ad-hoc reporting such as for Senate Estimates, Questions on Notice, and other internal and external reporting
- build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- be responsible for leading and building capability in the section through coaching, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.
